Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala City Tour

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, after, meet the safari leader for briefing about what you should expect on a long 16 days Uganda primates, cultural & game safari. After briefing, undertake a city tour in Kampala with significant places to visit including Kasubi tombs, Kabaka’s Lake, Museum etc. The long day Kampala city tour includes lunch and then you relax at the hotel in the evening.

Day 2: Ziwa Rhino Visit

After an early breakfast you start your journey to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary,you will have a walk in search of Rhinos and after head to Gulu city where you will have enjoy Acholi’s lunch and continue to Kitgum for overnight stay to avoid night travels.

Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

After morning breakfast like around 8am you will checkout from the hotel and to Kidepo valley national park, one of the most unique parks in Uganda. You will enjoy its landscape and a number of wildlife in the park, you will enjoy a game drive and visit the hot springs in the area and the seasonal river and later head to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Game drive both morning and evening

These game drives will give a chance to explore the park to its fullest, you will enjoy seeing herds of Buffalos, elephants, Lions, Zebras, Giraffes, Cheetahs if lucky, if you love birding you will enjoy a number of bird species including those that can only be spotted in this park.

Day 5: Game drive and visit to Karamajong community

After breakfast you will go back to the game to search for what you might have missed before, later in the afternoon after lunch and a bit of relaxing you will go for the community visit and get to know more about the Karamajong people, how they live and behave in their day to day.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park

After breakfast we leave Kidepo Valley national park, you will enjoy the last sights of animals as you drive out. Enjoy the areas around Gulu and check in the lodge in time for Lunch and later relax.

Day 7: Game drive and boat cruise

Very early in the morning we set off for a game-drive in Murchison Falls National Park in search for Big cats, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, among others. Later we will go back to the lodge for breakfast, on this day we shall have early learn to enable us make it on time for 2pm boat cruise where you will be able to see a school of hippos, crocodiles, elephants around, Buffalos and a number of bird species.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale national park home of Primates.

After breakfast transfer towards Kibale Forest. It’s a long drive today during our 16 days Uganda safari with our target to have lunch in Fort portal. Have a number of stopovers at sceneries like the Rift valley escarpment on Lake Albert and tea plantations along the drive offer us chances of stretching. We check in late afternoon to an area with an amazing display of primates and lovely scenery.

Day 9: Chimp Trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

In the morning you head into the forest of the Primates of Kibale for chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our cousins in the jungle as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones and sharing food. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day. After the trek we transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park via the crater lakes.

Day 10: Game drive and Boat cruise

Have breakfast, after, go for your rewarding game drive-Kasenyi sector for 2-4 hours and the possible sightings range from elephants, lions, elusive leopards, buffaloes to birds. Retreat by 11:00am, enjoy lunch and embark on an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel starting at 2:00pm. On 45m extensive channel, expect great sights of aquatic birds, hippos, crocodiles etc.

Day 11: Game drive in Ishasha sector and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

A heavy breakfast, after travel to Bwindi where mountain gorillas all thrive in 331sq.kms habitat. First, enjoy the Ishasha game drive which allows you see the tree climbing lions, elephants and any other wildlife.

Day 12: Go gorilla trekking

Wake up early morning, have breakfast then proceed for briefing on gorilla trekking rules. At 8:00am immediately you have been allocated a family of mountain gorillas, hit the forest to search for these highly endangered species for 2-6 hours inclusive of 1 hour face to face with them, taking photos. After, the guide will lead you back and you relax at the accommodation

Day 13: Batwa experience and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Day 13 of 16 days Uganda primates, cultural & game safari: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the Africa’s deepest lakes and boasts of its 29 islands. But before going for this journey, you have an experience with the Batwa people it is something you should miss, the Batwa people, their culture, history on how they came to this place and many more.

Day 14: Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast you will enjoy a boat ride on the lake and later head for Lake Mburo national park 199kms; enjoy lunch at Igongo cultural center. A cultural tour will be had at the museum in Igongo and after proceed to the park. If you are not tired you can have an evening nature walk which is optional.

Day 15: Game drive, boat Ride

Have breakfast early, after, game drive be enjoyed in Lake Mburo to see zebras, impalas, elands, giraffes, birds, buffaloes, bush bucks etc. In the afternoon enjoy boat cruise for 2-3 hours along Lake Mburo which lets you see basking crocodiles, hippos, water birds etc.

Day 16: End of trip, transfer to Entebbe

After breakfast check out from the lodge and set off 240kms drive to Kampala but don’t miss a stopover at Equator crossing to conduct water experiment to ascertain the Southern & Northern hemispheres.
